iphone apps and fashion brands are a tricky mix.  you have to beware of novelty, because we all know that wears off.  gucci’s ingenious mark ronson mixing situation is already tired and coach’s gift guide seems as though it will have little relevance after the holidays and offers nothing you can’t get on coach.com.  the key to a good app is reason, i have absolutely no reason to pretend i’m mark ronson and i do feel that most wannabe dj’s with iphones out there aren’t rushing to gucci to buy their product.  too bad so sad.  so when the kate spade new york agenda app burst out crazy today, i was pretty stoked for the concept (duh…obviously).  taking their illustrations from a paper agenda and digimisizing them for the iphone, they’ve updated the plain jane agenda that comes with the phone and dropped in their own ideas and events that most kate spade new yorkers will enjoy (think moma exhibits and the like).  people have reason to plan their life and the added events are just bonus.  utility wins out frivolity in the end…always.  oh plus, it is le free.
